Arashi Shibori Silk Wraps
AKA Chou (butterfly) Silk Shibori Scarf
These are all one of a kind and hand dyed silk. 6 momme (lightweight) habutai dyed in the arashi shibori tradition. This means they are pole wrapped which creates both the texture and the dye pattern simultaneously. The dye and the pleating are steam set. They can be dyed in many wonderful and custom color combinations. On each scarf point I stitch on a crystal bead.
I call these Chou scarves as they are light and colorful as butterfly wings and a light breeze adds movement as you wear them. As I was photographing them today they reminded me of octopus swirling in the ocean's current. Either way, they are ready to find their way to you and brighten up your wardrobe.
Dry clean only to retain the pleats.
45" x 84" before pleating for the regular length
45" x 108" before pleating for the extra long version
Available on a "dyed to order" basis -please allow 3 weeks.
Since these are made entirely by me and the days being only 24 hours long, there are only so many I can produce and still maintain the attention to detail I desire to apply to each piece.
I also have a short slideshow on the blog with images of recently dyed pieces:
